There was a 27.5%p difference in the employment rate of married female and married male across the country. in terms of employment rate by gender, the highest employment rate for married female was 64.5% in Jeju and the lowest was in Busan of 45.6%. The highest employment rate of married male was in Sejong of 86.0%, and the lowest was 72.0% in Busan.
The largest gender gap in employment rate among married people was in Ulsan (33.1% p), followed by Sejong (31.2% p) and in Gyeonggi (30.2% p). The smallest gender gap in employment rate among married people was in Jeju (20.0% p) followed by Gangwon (21.4% p) and Jeonnam (21.7% p). Nationally, there was a gender gap of 27.5%p.
The employment rate of married female is an indicator for career-break. In addition, regional employment rate can be used to identify employment status at the city and provincial level
