Activity of Female Non-economically Active Population 10 Years Ago and Now Still Consist of Housework

    Looking at the 2009 and 2019 data, “housework” was most activity taken by female non-economically active population where 5,288,000 of them in 2009 and 5,581,000 of them in 2019 engaged in it. This is followed by “commuting”(2,077,000 of them in 2009, 1,848,000 of them in 2019), “child rearing”(1,589,000 of them in 2009, 1,155,000 of them in 2019) and “old age”(714,000 of them in 2009, 937,000 of them in 2019) where it appear in the same order.

     

    On the other hand, for male non-economically active population in 2019, the most activity is taken up by “commuting”(2,296,000), followed by “other”(1,610,000), and “old age”(900,000). In 2019, “other”(2,203,000), followed by “commuting”(1,940,000), and “old age”(1,273,000). Therefore, compared to 10 years ago, there was a difference in the order of activities mostly taken up by male non-economically active population.
