Average Age of First Marriage for Female is 2.1 Years Higher than 10 Years Ago
The average age of first marriages for women rose from 28.3 in 2008 to 30.4 in 2018. In 2008, region with the highest average age of women’s first marriage was Seoul with 29.3. Then it was followed by Busan(28.9), Jeju(28.7), Daegu(28.7), and Gyeonggi(28.6). On the other hand, regions with the lowest average age of women’s first marriage were Chungnam(27.6) then followed by Jeonnam(27.7).
In 2018, the region with the highest average age of women’s first marriage was Seoul with 31.3, which is same as in year 2008. This is then followed by Busan(30.9), Jeju(30.8), Gyeonggi(30.5), and Daegu(30.5). The lowest average was shown in Chungbuk(29.7).
When compared 2008 to 2018, the average age of women’s first marriage increased in all regions. There was no noticeable change in ranking among the regions. However, based on the national figures, the capital regions and metropolitan cities were placed in high rank when the rest of the regions were placed in low rank.
