41.4% of Insurant on the Employment Insurance is Women
In 2016, the number of insurant on the employment insurance was 5,244,000 female and 7,411.000 male, which makes 41.4% of the insurant, female.
During the survey, both female and male saw an increase in the number of insurant. In 2008, the number of insured female and male was 3,374,000 and 6,011,000 respectively. In 2009, the number increased to 3,569,000 and 6,083,000 respectively. Since then, the number of insurant has increased steadily, reaching 4,367,000 female and 6,971,000 male in 2012. In 2015, the number increased to 5,064,000 for female and 7,298,000 for male.
On the other hand, the number of female insurant has increased significantly compared to male insurant, and the proportion of females on the employment insurance continued to increase. The proportion of female increased from 36.0% in 2008 to 37.7% in 2010. In 2013, it recorded 39.7%. In 2014, more than four out of ten (40.4%) of insurant on the employment insurance was female. In 2015 and 2016, it recorded 41.0% and 41.4%, respectively.
