Title (No. 394) Consistent Rise in Older-Women and Younger-Men Marriages

This graph shows age difference of first marriage couples in the period of 2000-2016. The proportion of older-women and younger-men marriages has consistently increased, from 10.7% in 2000 to 13.7% in 2008, and to 16.3% in 2016. The number of older-women and younger-men marriages increased by 8,044 cases, from 28,109 cases in 2000 to 36,153 cases in 2016.

The proportion of the same age couples rose from 34,794 cases in 2000 to 39,540 cases in 2008. In 2016, it increased to 35,230 cases. The number of older-men and younger-women marriages increased from 207,934 cases in 2000 to 175,665 cases in 2008, and to 149,960 cases in 2016.
