Title (No. 392) The Percentage of Marriages with Foreigners Shows a Steady Decline

This graph shows the trends in international marriages between Korean nationals and foreigners. The number of marriages between Korean males and foreign females and the number of marriages between Korean females and foreign males have been on a steady decline, and the respective proportions have also gradually decreased.
The number of marriages between Korean males and foreign females shrank from 28,163 in 2008 to 20,637 in 2010, and to 14,822 in 2016, which means a decrease of 47.4% from 2008 to 2016. Accordingly, the proportion of marriages between Korean males and foreign females declined 3.3%p, from 8.6% to 5.3% in 2016.
As briefly explained above, there have been a constant decrease in the number of marriages between Korean females and foreign males, from 8,041 in 2008 to 7,688 in 2012 and to 5,769 in 2016. This figure means that the percentage of marriages between Korean females and foreign males dropped 0.5%p from 2.5% in 2008 to 2.0% in 2016.
