Title (No. 385) Male Proportion of First (New) Child Care Leave Beneficiaries on a Constant Rise

This statistical information indicates the trends in the number of first(new) child care leave beneficiaries by sex from the Yearly Statistics of Employment Insurance collected by the Korea Employment Information Service.
Among the first child care leave beneficiaries, 56, 734 persons were women and 1,042 persons were men in 2011. This means that only 2.4% of the child care leave beneficiaries were men. On the other hand, the numbers of women and men constantly increased. The size of female child care leave beneficiaries increased 1.5 times, from 62,375 in 2013 to 82,467 in 2015. In case of men, the number multiplied almost 3.5 times from 2013 to 2015.

The percentage of male beneficiaries has also shown a constant rise over the years: 2.4% in 2011, 3.3% in 2013, and 5.6% in 2015, which is more than twofold.
